A Pakistani Army soldier has accepted martyrdom in the South Waziristan region (IED), the military said in a statement on Thursday.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the IED blast targeted a military convoy as it passed through Makeen area in the South Waziristan district.
As a result, 39-year-old Havaldar Muhammad Sanwar, a resident of Jhelum, lost his life.
“The clean-up operation is under way to eradicate terrorism in this area,” added ISPR.
This time, the terrorist was shot during an intelligence operation (IBO) in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan.
The military public affairs unit said security forces were facing opposition from the terrorists as they launched the IBO in the area, and as a result, another terrorist was killed during a fire exchange.
The slain terrorist was identified as Muhammad Altaf, ISPR said.
“Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the terrorist. He was actively involved in violent activities against the security forces,” the ISPR report added.
Four days ago, three soldiers from the Pakistan Army and at least three children were killed in a suicide bombing in Miranshah, Northern Waziristan.
In a brief statement, the military said intelligence agencies were investigating to find out. [the] suicide bomber and his bosses / organizers.
Over time, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also condemned the suicide attack and expressed regret over the lives they lost.
